Mykonos Trip

Few years ago, my family (including 8 and 16 year old) took a trip from Toronto to Mykonos. Contrary to some reviews that Mykonos is a party place and only suited for "young" people, my family had really great time. Mykonos is one of the best destinations we've been to. We flew from Toronto to Athens, and from Rafina Ferry Port we took a high speed boat that took us to the island in little bit over than 2 hours. We had difficulty finding a taxi at the Mykonos port, as there was no taxi stand but managed to find one, after a short walk.

There are many different parts of the Mykonos, and we opted for hotel Acrogiali on the Platis Gialos beach, which is very nice and family oriented beach. The hotel was directly on the beach, had its own restaurant and its own sunbeds. Along the same beach, there are many more hotels, and some looked really really nice, but pretty much we were happy with our accommodation, with value for the money. Sea was gorgeous and crystal clear. There were many other restaurants and cafe places just steps away, so everyday you could have different experience. There were some water sports available and our kids enjoyed few of them.

Of course, we wanted to see and feel a little bit of the party life of Mykonos. From Platis Gialos we took a boat ride and visited Paradise Beach. In the morning and early afternoon, this beach is very nice and quiet. You can swim and enjoy. Around 4pm, the party starts, which again was much fun, but perhaps less appropriate for children. But definitely worth visiting and experiencing it. My kids found it very entertaining.

Every evening we would take a taxi from our hotel to Mykonos town, which is absolutely stunning. So nice to walk around. Restaurants and food are awesome. All patios decorated with flowers, music, very lively. We loved crapes and ice cream at Delicious and Trio Bambini. Souvlaki is great almost anywhere. We liked Blue Myth restaurant, that was recommended to us, and it happened to be just beside our hotel. Making sure to see: Mykonos Windmills, Little Venice - seafront, Matoyianni Street. All in all, unforgettable experience, and would sincerely recommend visiting Greece and Mykonos.
