French Riviera is stunning. 4 of us, all adults, traveled for 10 days in June 2018. We flew from Toronto to Marseilles and rented a car. We drove along the shore and spent a few days in different places. We wanted to relax, walk, eat delicious food, drink good wine, and enjoy the sun. We chose hotels with 4-5 stars, but not too luxurious. We spent most of the time outside, so decent accommodation was needed, but nothing much more. This was our trip itinerary:
2 nights in St. Tropez:
We stayed at La Bastide St. Anne hotel. A small boutique hotel, with a pool, and gorgeous grounds. Few minutes drive from the St. Tropez centre. Highly recommended.
We went to Pampelone Beach Club for a day. Nice beach, good service, excellent restaurant. The price tag attached.
1 night Frejus Stayed at little winery La Bastide Du Clos des Roses. It was nice accommodation, with good breakfast, and have to say the best bed ever. I would give it 3.5 to 4 stars. We don't speak French, and hotel personnel did not speak English, so it was little bit difficult to organize wine tasting. 2 nights in Cannes Stayed Hotel Renoir. Centrally located, loved it. Some nice restaurants, food, and wine!
3 nights in Nice
Stayed at Hotel West End Promenade. The room with a sea view was fantastic. Good hotel, excellent location with an excellent breakfast. The hotel does have its own beach, but you can always find a good spot anywhere on the beach for free. I loved relaxed French people on the beach who just brought their own food, drank some wine, and enjoyed. Super cool Promenade to stroll along. In the city there many nice streets, shops, restaurants. Open market is also interesting and worth checking out.
From Nice, we visited a little village on the hill, called Eze. This is a must-see. An old little village with an amazing view, lots of little streets, flowers...so charming and beautiful. Of course, we drove to Monte Carlo, visited Casino, walked around, had few drinks at the bar. Fun place, as expected.
2 nights Cassis Here we stayed at Hotel & Spa de la Plage - Mahagany. Another smaller, charming French hotel. Amazing patio, beach, restaurant. We loved everything about it. It was a short walk to the main walking area, with lots of little restaurant with very delicious meals. We took a little boat trip and swam at the few secluded places. Overall, Cassis was absolutely stunning. About 10 days in absolutely gorgeous France. Unforgettable holiday.
